Collective plots, community of weavers
Today, more than ever, we firmly believe that true changes always arise from the inside out in an expansive way, just like a spiral . A change that occurs first within our being can grow, set an example and spread to many more people around. When many people start to join in with individual change, it becomes a collective and strong change.
This is why at Tigre de Salón we believe that for a truly valuable change to emerge for everyone, the first step is to change our individual daily lives first and then move up and join more people. Just as a Tutu (backpack) is woven, from the center, or the heart, and from there expanding in a spiral shape until the entire piece is finished, a piece that is resistant and durable thanks to this way of weaving and the union of all the knots. Weaving is definitely a metaphor for life itself.
Thanks to this feeling, which we call “Espiral”, the project was born: TRAMAS COLECTIVAS, a community of weavers.
At Tigre de Salón we believe in the possibility of reweaving lives and stories, of finding in crafts a way to give new meaning to our presence in the world. Weaving itself is a metaphor for life.
We are convinced that we can reweave our own fabric, that we can modify our existence, by understanding the power we have to create, to transform our own lives, our worlds and those of others. Weaving will allow us to feel powerful, to connect with our feelings and desires, and with our creative power.
Tramas Colectivas, a community of weavers, is a project that seeks to create weaving communities, where ancestral artisanal knowledge is explored and reciprocal economic and ontological relationships are generated between Tigre de Salón and groups of people in situations of vulnerability and discrimination, given their sexual, ethnic, political, gender and work condition.
The idea with Tramas Colectivas is to create new Tigres that contain pieces woven by these communities. In this way, we not only create spaces for dialogue, growth and weaving, but also economic income and job options for the members of the community.
We started the first community of weavers with 9 wonderful women, workers from the Veracruz, Barbacoas and Raudal sectors of downtown Medellín. This first group was made possible thanks to the * Putamante Poderosas collective with whom we have been working hand in hand throughout this year.
Strength, Freedom, Isi, Kwa and Camino; the new Tigers in this capsule collection.
They collect in their plot part of the story of Jaqueline, Flor, Sandra, Elvia Rosa, Milena, Teresa, Angela, Jaqueline… , a story that tells the fragility, the strength and the meaning of being a woman, a story that is as much theirs as it is ours…
Special thanks to all the people who made this first Trama possible.
